The Groom has his own tasks.  Here's, a year long list.  Print this page to assist in the groom’s duties!
Twelve Months Ahead:
  • Select engagement ring.

  • Discuss the wedding expenses with your fiancée and all parents to figure who will be “taking care of” what.

  • Decide on your groomsmen and ushers. (at least one usher per 50 guests)

  • Decide on ceremony and reception site with finance.

 
Nine Months Ahead:
  • Arrange a visit with your clergy member or justice of the peace to discus the ceremony.

  • Start your guest list (the two lists will be combined)

  • Consult a travel agent on your honeymoon destination.

 
Six Months Ahead:
  • Arrange to pay for the flowers (the  bride’s bouquet, corsages for attendants and mothers)

  • Visit the gift registry with your fiancée.

  • Complete the honeymoon plans.

  • If traveling abroad, check passports.

  • Arrange transportation to the ceremony and place of reception for the entire wedding party.

 
Three Months Ahead:
  • Complete your guest list, give to finance.

  • Consult your fiancée about attire, and order attire for yourself and wedding party.  Arrange for the groomsmen to have fittings, etc.

  • Shop for your honeymoon clothes.

  • Order the wedding rings/bands.

  • Discuss hotel stays with your fiancée, and block off rooms for the out-of-town guests.

  • Plan the rehearsal dinner with your parents.

 
Six to Eight Weeks Ahead:
  • Buy your fiancées wedding gift.

  • Get all legal and religious papers in order.

  • Pick up rings, check the engraving.

  • Check the state requirements for blood testing, if not already.

  • If moving, plan the arrangements.

  • Help your fiancée with the Thank-You notes for the arriving gifts.

 
Two Weeks Ahead:
  • Get your marriage license with your fiancée.

  • If needed, arrange for transportation to the airport from the reception.

  • Bachelor Party!

  • Double-check the honeymoon reservations.

 
One Week Ahead:
  • Explain any special seating arrangements in the ceremony to the ushers.

  • Put the officiant’s fee in a special envelope and give to the best man for delivery after the ceremony.  Contact Enchantment (813) 453-6616 for these special envelopes.

  • Purchase traveler’s checks.

  • Get your packing finished.

  • Remind the ushers, groomsmen, and others of the rehearsal dinner details.
