Six to
Eight Months Ahead: |
|
|
-
Arrange for your fiancé's family to meet yours.
-
Send engagement
announcements, and host an engagement party.
-
Post your engagement in the local newspapers.
-
Select
a wedding date. (Have back up dates in mind, in cases where your
clergy, caterer, or church is booked for that day).
Decide whether you will have an evening or daytime
wedding.
|
-
Buy
a comprehensive wedding planner, which may or may not include
wedding etiquette. Enchantment
recommends "Beverly Clark's Wedding Planner" -
America's #1 selling wedding planner.
(Contact us, to order or buy on-line.)
|
 |
|
-
If
you choose to hire a wedding consultant, now is the time.
Make sure you call around, or get personal references
from friends that may have used one. Enchantment recommends that you research this field
thoroughly. We are
Professional Wedding Accessories Consultants and can offer you
free advice on the details of your wedding.
You only pay for what you buy.
-
Once
the wedding date is selected (and back-up dates are picked),
start booking your selections.
It is recommended that you book these services at least
six months out.
-
Choose and
book your wedding & reception site.
-
Choose
and book your officiant.
-
Choose
and book your florist. (Selecting your flowers comes later)
-
Choose
and book your photographer/videographer.
At this point you will need to decide whether you would
want black & white photos, unobtrusive photos, etc.
This will determine your selection of the photographer.
Give the photographer a list of the shots you feel are
important. It is
also recommended that you get a signed contract of who will be
the attending photographer the day of your wedding.
You do not want an amateur to show up, if you originally
wanted the professional owner, for example.
-
Choose
and book your caterer, chef, etc.
Decide what foods and/or styles of foods you will want
served. Also,
whether you will be serving buffet or sit down dinner.
-
Choose
and book your bakery for the wedding cake, if your reception
site does not provide one.
-
Choose
and book your band/DJ/organist, etc. Try to attend a reception
where your choices will be performing, to make sure that their
style is what you want. Start
to compile a list of songs you will want to play.
|
-
Choose
and book your ceremony music. Whether it is live or taped. Start
to decide what music you want played when the guests are being
seated, the parents are walked down, or the attendants and bride
walk the aisle. Enchantment sells a collection of very popular
selections for these events. Sold on CD only. (Call to order.)
|
 |
|
-
Choose
and book your honeymoon destination/including airline travel.
-
Start
looking for your dress, veil, gloves, shoes & jewelry.
Enchantment offers a wide range of bridal jewelry,
gloves, tiaras, and attendant jewelry.
-
Choose
your best man, maid of honor, and wedding attendants. Consider those special friends or family members that you
will want to read, sing, or speak at your ceremony.
-
Start
to compile your guest lists & addresses.
It is recommended that you and your fiancé develop
different lists and compile them together.
-
If
you are planning an out-of-town ceremony & reception, it is
suggested that you start to compile travel info, hotel &
reservation information, and directions.
Put together a small package to mail to those out-of-town
guests, so they will have ample time to prepare.
-
Send
"Save the Date" cards for your wedding, if in fact you
are having a vacation style ceremony and a lot of out-of towners
will be attending. These
save the date cards are informal, just alerting your guests of
the plans, and stating that a formal invitation will follow.
Call Enchantment for details - we sell many of them.

You
and your fiancé need to determine your vows.
If you are not using traditional vows and are writing
your own, you should start this immediately.
-
Schedule rehearsal dinner and
celebration afterwards.
-
Your
invitations should be stuffed and addressed by now. Prepare for mailing.
|
| |
|
One to Two
Months Ahead: |
|
|
-
Choose
and purchase your guest book, pens, and the "look" of
that table. Decide
whether or not you will have the table attended.
(This is usually the job of a younger family member who
wants to have a role, somehow).
Another option is to have the guest book distributed at
the reception. However, you might run in to the possibility of
missing some guests. Enchantment welcomes you to visit
their selection of guest books & pens.
|
 |
|
-
Have the programs printed.
-
Mail the invitations. (The time
you allow will depend on how soon you need confirmed numbers.)
-
If you are going to have a name
change, complete the proper documents now.
-
Announce your wedding date with
the local newspapers.
-

If you are going to use him/her for the bridesmaids,
schedule that as well.

|
-
Write
and send your thank you notes, AS YOU RECEIVE the gifts.
(The myth of having one year to send thank you's is
false.)
-
If you are having a make-up
artist, arrange for that as well. You may want to have
practice sessions, to make sure you achieve the look you want.
|
 |
|
-
Practice
with your headpiece, veil, or tiara.
Make sure your hairstylist has some ideas. You may want to practice this as well.
-
If
you are having a change of address, send that to the post office
now.
|
 |

your final dress fitting. Arrange
for your bridesmaids to do so as well.
-
Make sure you bring your shoes
and special lingerie.

Enchantment offers a wide range of these frames with
